LAWRENCE R. FEINDT

VICE-PRESIDENT

Licensed Professional Surveyor

Lawrence R. Feindt graduated from the University of Michigan in 1972 with a BSE degree in Civil Engineering/Geodetic Engineering. While a student at the University of Michigan, Mr. Feindt worked as an assistant and a computer programmer under the direction of the late Ralph Moore Berry, noted professor of geodetic engineering. He has since attended numerous classes and workshops involving boundary retracements, state plane coordinates, elevation datums, land title standards, and computer programming. Mr. Feindt received advanced training in the use of global positioning systems from Ashtech in 1996.

Mr. Feindt became a licensed professional surveyor in Michigan in 1974 and in Illinois in 1985. He obtained 15 graduate credit hours in municipal Civil Engineering from the University of Michigan 1986-1987. He has also had an article appertaining to construction surveying published in Engineering News Record in 1989 and has presented a paper to the Michigan Land Title Association relating to survey problems associated with easements in 1991.

Mr. Feindt has spent his entire career with Advanced Geomatics, and received his early training under his mother, Dr. Mary C. Feindt, Professional Surveyor, land title abstractor, and company president. Mr. Feindt has been in responsible charge of the numerous surveying operations of Advanced Geomatics since 1974, and was also involved with the company’s land title insurance business until 1995. He has extensive experience managing multifarious projects ranging over 40 counties involving many categories of land and construction surveying. Under the direction of Mr. Feindt, Advanced Geomatics has obtained pre-qualifications for performing right-of-way, road, bridge, hydraulic, geodetic control, ground control, and construction surveys for the Michigan Department of Transportation. Mr. Feindt has also successfully served as a member of many project teams wherein careful interfacing and collaboration of ideas and work efforts were necessary.

Samples of significant projects which have been personally directed by Mr. Feindt include: Medusa Cement Company - Charlevoix Plant Expansion (layout & QA/QC); Detroit Downtown People Mover (property boundaries, layout, QA/QC, control, base maps & precast); Detroit Cobo Hall Expansion (piles, caissons, anchor bolts, reinforced earth ramp & steel bridge); Metropolitan Sanitary District of Greater Chicago-Des Plaines Tunnel System (control); Detroit Water & Sewerage Dep't. Pump Station 2A (tunnel mapping and monitoring); Davison Freeway in Highland Park (mapping, rights-of-way & alignment); Highway M-40 in Holland (boundary, alignment, control & mapping); Highway I-94 BL in Battle Creek (control and section retracement), Highways I-94 BL / M-43 in Kalamazoo (mapping, control, property boundaries, public land corner retracement, alignment, bridges & hydrology), Rochester Road in the City of Troy (public land surveys and parcel boundary surveys), Highway M-51 in Dowagiac (mapping, alignment, hydrology, bridge & land corner retracement), M-44 Flat River bridge in Belding (structure & topo mapping), Woodward Avenue in Oakland County (survey for pavement rehabilitation), M-39 in Lincoln Park, Allen Park, Dearborn Heights and Dearborn (mapping, bridges, utilities, and control), and major portions of I-75 in Detroit (control and structure, utility and topo mapping).

Mr. Feindt is a member of the Michigan Society of Professional Surveyors, the Illinois Professional Land Surveyors Association, the American Congress on Surveying and Mapping, and the National Society of Professional Surveyors.  Additionally, Mr. Feindt currently serves office as the Charlevoix County Surveyor.  Lawrence is also fully certified in CPR and basic First Aid.
